Ad Hendrickx

Ad Hendrickx is a Lecturer-researcher at Hanze University of Applied Sciences, affiliated with the Centre of Expertise Healthy Ageing. He holds concurrent roles as Board member of the International Lipedema Association (since 2021), docent NPI (since 2015), and Board member SLCN (since 2010). As a physiotherapist and team leader at Ziekenhuis Nij Smellinghe since 1986, he combines clinical practice with academic research. His research focuses on lipedema, lymphedema, obesity, and frailty care, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to healthcare challenges.

• Education: PhD Candidate status in Healthy Ageing and Allied Health Care

Research interests include patient functioning through the International Classification of Functioning framework, healthcare professional support systems, and early intervention strategies for lymphatic disorders. His work spans clinical guidelines development, qualitative patient insights, and cohort studies evaluating evidence-based practices.

Academic contributions include 15 peer-reviewed publications since 2014, with recent emphases on lipedema self-management needs and breast-cancer-related lymphedema referrals. He actively participates in international conferences, such as the World Congress of Phlebology 2023, and collaborates across disciplines to advance care standards.
