Prof. Achim Härtner MA is a Professor of Practical Theology at Reutlingen Theological College and holds the E. Stanley Jones Chair of Evangelism of the Foundation for Evangelism / United Methodist Church, USA. He serves as Vice Rector for Teaching and Studies, contributing to academic leadership and theological education.
- Born in 1960 in Freudenstadt, Germany
- Studied Protestant Theology at Theological Seminary in Reutlingen (1983–1987)
- Master of Arts in Religious Communications from United Theological Seminary, Dayton/Ohio (1987–1988), supported by WCC scholarship
- Ordained as Pastor in the United Methodist Church (1990) after Second Church Service Examination
His research and teaching focus on:
- Theology of Evangelism and Mission
- Community education and church building
- Creative forms of preaching and media-based homiletics
- Sociology of religion and social trends impacting church work
- Diaconal science and practical theology
Prof. Härtner has been actively involved in international research projects, including the KU Study (2012–2017) and studies on confirmation work, youth engagement in free churches, and innovative church expressions.
