Abu Asaduzzaman is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the School of Science, Engineering & Technology, Penn State Harrisburg. His work focuses on computational chemistry, environmental mercury dynamics, and materials science. He holds a faculty position with affiliations in both the Harrisburg campus and the broader Penn State system.
Research interests include quantum-chemical investigations of environmental pollutants, surface chemistry of minerals, and energy materials. Key topics involve mercury behavior in Arctic environments, semiconductor surface interactions, and nanomaterials design. His NSF-funded work explores mercury deposition mechanisms in polar regions.
Recent publications highlight structural studies of hibonite, aluminum plasma etching, and lithium ion diffusion in fullerenes. Awards include a 2022 NSF grant and tenure promotion in 2024. His research spans interdisciplinary collaborations in energy, environmental science, and planetary chemistry.
Notable projects include environmental mercury chemistry studies, hydrogen isotope fractionation analysis, and computational modeling of mineral-water interactions. He advises on interdisciplinary grants and contributes to faculty research initiatives at Penn State Harrisburg.
