Abrar Ali Saiyed is a Senior Lecturer in International Business & Entrepreneurship at the University of Glasgow's Adam Smith School of Business. His academic journey includes roles as Assistant Professor at Ozyegin University (Turkey) and Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University (India). He holds a Ph.D. (Fellowship in Management) from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).
His research focuses on marginalized communities' entrepreneurship, grassroots innovation, and internationalization challenges in SMEs. He has secured major grants including a €1.2M EIT HEI Initiative grant to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Turkey. Notable awards include the Chairman's Best Teacher Award (2018-19) and participation in the US Government's International Visitor Leadership Program.
Abrar's teaching spans courses like International Entrepreneurship, Global Business Environment, and Multinational Management. His consultancy work includes training craft artisans in Gujarat, mentoring SMEs, and leading initiatives such as the LedBy Foundation's work with Muslim women entrepreneurs.
His publications appear in top journals like International Business Review and Asia Pacific Journal of Management, addressing topics from infrastructural violence in marginalized communities to pandemic impacts on global value chains.
