معرفی
Abigail Morrison serves as a University Professor and Group Leader of the Computation in Neural Circuits research group at the Institute for Advanced Simulation (IAS-6), Computational and Systems Neuroscience, Forschungszentrum Jülich. She holds the position of Director for her research group within this prominent German research center focused on computational neuroscience.
Professor Morrison's research focuses on investigating the mechanisms underlying neural computation through developing models at the level of networks of spiking neurons. Her group primarily applies a top-down approach to discover functional constraints on structure, plasticity, and dynamics, particularly with regard to learning and memory. She investigates models of cognitive function with a special emphasis on implicit learning processes.
Morrison's team develops simulation techniques for massively parallel computers that are both computationally and memory-efficient, along with code generation methods for rapid prototyping of neuron and synapse models. She is associated with NEST, a neural network simulation tool widely used in computational neuroscience.
Her specific research interests include reservoir computing, reinforcement learning, dendritic computation, neuromorphic computing, simulation technology ecosystem, and unsupervised learning. She leads a research team that includes doctoral researchers Joshua Böttcher and Barna Zajzon, along with other researchers Pooja Babu and Charles Linssen.
