Professor Abdulnaser Sayma is the Executive Dean of the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences at Brunel University London since June 2024. He holds a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), an MSc in Energy Technology for Developing Countries from the University of Salford, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Birzeit University, Palestine.
- Leadership roles: Executive Dean (Brunel), Head of Department (City University of London), Interim Dean (City University of London), Director of Research (University of Sussex)
- Research interests: Turbomachinery aerodynamics, gas turbines, supercritical CO₂ cycles, high-temperature heat pumps, thermal energy storage
- Membership: Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS), Member of the Energy Institute
His research focuses on innovative turbomachinery designs and thermal power cycles for waste heat recovery across varying temperature ranges, including organic Rankine cycles, supercritical CO₂ cycles, and Brayton cycles. He has contributed extensively to supercritical CO₂ power cycles, turbine design optimization, and thermal storage technologies.
Recent publications emphasize aerothermal interactions in radial turbines, sCO₂ cycle efficiency, high-temperature heat pump compressors, and cascaded ORC systems. His work aligns with renewable energy integration and carbon reduction goals.
Professor Sayma is affiliated with ETN Global (Energy and Turbomachinery Network) and actively supervises PhD research in turbomachinery design and thermal power cycles.
