Alismail is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the School of Medicine and Associate Chair in the Department of Cardiopulmonary Sciences at the School of Allied Health Professions, Loma Linda University. He holds a PhD from Claremont Graduate University and multiple advanced degrees in health sciences, with a strong clinical background as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT-NPS, RRT-SDS), and is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and Fellow of the American Association for Respiratory Care (FAARC).
- PhD, Claremont Graduate University (2021)
- MA, Claremont Graduate University (2017)
- MS, Loma Linda University (2012)
- BS, Loma Linda University (2014, 2010)
His research spans respiratory care, critical care, asthma management, pulmonary function testing, and medical education. He investigates biologic therapies in asthma, bronchial thermoplasty, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and simulation-based learning. His work emphasizes clinical education innovation, cognitive load theory, and interprofessional collaboration. He actively publishes in journals such as Advances in Medical Education and Practice, Respiratory Medicine, and BMC Pulmonary Medicine.
His recent publications (2023–2025) focus on advanced respiratory therapy practices, elderly asthma management, point-of-care lung ultrasound adoption, ventilatory strategies in critical care, and educational innovations in resource-limited settings. Themes include clinical decision-making, patient outcomes, simulation effectiveness, and healthcare disparities.
He has received notable scientific recognition including:
- Fellow of the American College of Chest Medicine (2022)
- RCP of the Year, Inland Empire Region, CSRC (2022)
Dr. Alismail serves as Principal Investigator and co-investigator on multiple grants related to asthma, pulmonary rehabilitation, simulation training, and diagnostic techniques. He mentors students through capstone and research projects, teaches a wide range of courses in respiratory therapy, and contributes to curriculum development. He is an Associate Editor for BMC Pulmonary Medicine and serves on the board of the Coalition for Baccalaureate and Graduate Respiratory Therapy Education (CoBGRTE).
He leads or participates in research labs and teams focused on simulation-based education, respiratory physiology, and clinical outcomes in pulmonary diseases. His lab work includes the use of augmented reality in training, wearable manikins, and evaluation of ventilatory techniques.
