Abdelaziz Alsharawy, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Health Economics at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, affiliated with the Center for Health Systems Research, Policy, and Practice. He holds a PhD in economics from Virginia Tech and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs.

Dr. Alsharawy's research integrates behavioral economics, neuroeconomics, and health economics to study health outcomes and policy. His work focuses on decision-making under emotional contexts, using experimental methods, quantitative modeling, eye-tracking, psychometrics, and psychophysiological assessments. He is currently establishing a Neuroeconomics Laboratory at UTH SPH to combine multimodal data from eye-tracking, facial expression analysis, and biomedical sensors.
His research spans risky, intertemporal, and social choices, aiming to refine nudge theory and policy communication to improve health outcomes. Dr. Alsharawy has published in journals such as PNAS and the Journal of Economic Science Association.
