Abdel Ennaceur is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Sunderland's School of Pharmacy since 2002. He previously held academic and research roles at the University of Bordeaux (CNRS, France), GlaxoSmithKline (UK), and Durham University. His work focuses on neurobiological mechanisms of learning, memory, anxiety, and neuropsychiatric disorders using rodent models.
- Developed the widely used Object Novelty Recognition Test for memory assessment
- Expertise in 3D maze testing for spatial navigation and anxiety
- Current research targets clinical diagnostic methodology in neuropsychiatric disorders
His publications span neuropharmacology, behavioral neuroscience, and vascular dementia studies in mouse models of cerebral hypoperfusion. He teaches neurodegenerative diseases, drug abuse, pain management, and anesthesia at undergraduate levels.
