Dr. Abd El Kareem Azab is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is a Rising Star CPRIT Scholar of Cancer Research and a Senior Member of The National Academy of Inventors. His research lab conducts multidisciplinary translational research focusing on cancer therapy, with emphasis on drug resistance, tumor microenvironment, immunotherapy, and advanced drug delivery systems.

Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trend toward immunotherapy, targeted drug delivery, and microenvironment modulation. His work frequently involves nanoparticle platforms, T-cell engagers, CD47 and CXCR4 targeting, and ex vivo models for therapy prediction. The Azab Lab utilizes advanced technologies including 3D tissue-engineered bone marrow models, lipid and polymeric nanoparticles, drug-eluting implants, and boron neutron capture therapy agents.
