Abba Gumel

Abba Gumel holds the Michael and Eugenia Brin Endowed Chair in Mathematics at the University of Maryland, specializing in mathematical epidemiology and disease dynamics. His research develops models for infectious disease transmission under climate change, zoonotic spillover, and intervention scenarios. Gumel's COVID-19 research informed mask policies and vaccination strategies globally.
