Aayush Srivastava

Dr. Aayush Srivastava is a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow and Associate Lecturer at the University of St Andrews' School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. As a Quaternary geochronologist, he specializes in optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating applied to landscape evolution and human-environment interactions.

Research Focus: Srivastava's work integrates geomorphology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology to investigate:

• Chronologies of agricultural terraces in Mediterranean regions
• Dune accumulation histories in arid environments like India's Thar Desert
• Syn-rift sedimentation in African tectonic basins

His methodological innovations include developing portable luminescence techniques for rapid field assessments and multidisciplinary approaches to historical landscape analysis.

Teaching: Srivastava coordinates the School's summer programs, including the intensive 5-week Geology Field Camp in Scotland, training students in advanced field techniques.

Publications: His recent scholarship demonstrates strong emphasis on refining dating methodologies for archaeological and geomorphological applications, with significant contributions to understanding long-term human impacts on landscapes.
