Dr. Aaron Yurkewich is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering at Ontario Tech University, within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. His research focuses on assistive and rehabilitation technologies, including wearable robots, exoskeletons, and biomedical engineering solutions for stroke and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. He holds a BESc, MESc, and PhD in Mechatronics Engineering.
His research interests include the design and control of wearable robots, human-robot interaction, and AI-driven robotics for rehabilitation. He has conducted clinical trials globally, emphasizing affordable and accessible solutions for in-clinic and at-home settings. Dr. Yurkewich collaborates with international teams to advance rehabilitation technologies, such as hybrid electrical stimulation-exoskeleton systems and soft robotic orthoses.
He has an open master's position for developing upper-limb exoskeletons. His work spans over a decade, with contributions to lower-limb robots for gait training, hand exoskeletons, and stroke rehabilitation technologies. His research integrates neuroscience, engineering, and clinical practice to enhance patient outcomes.
