Aaron Wolfgang is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, focusing on innovative therapies such as psychedelics and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for military and veteran populations. His research addresses PTSD, substance use disorders, and neuropsychological outcomes in service members.
Education: MD from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (2016); BA in Psychology & Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley (2011).
Research interests include psychedelic-assisted therapies, military mental health, neuroimaging of traumatic brain injury (TBI), and ethical considerations in clinical practice. Notably, he explores spirituality’s role in end-of-life care and PTSD recovery among veterans.
Recent work includes studies on MDMA-assisted dialectical behavioral therapy for borderline personality disorder and opioid trends in active duty personnel during the pandemic. He emphasizes clinical implementation challenges and legal barriers in military health systems.
Recipient of recognition at the 2021 Yale School of Medicine Commencement Ceremony for contributions to resident/faculty excellence.
