Aaron Strong is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies and Director at Hamilton College. His research focuses on climate change impacts, ocean acidification, carbon sequestration, and climate justice, integrating biophysical and human dimensions. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Emmett Interdisciplinary Program, an M.A. in International Climate Policy from Tufts, and a B.A. in Biology and Political Science from Swarthmore College. Prior to Hamilton, he served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maine’s School of Marine Sciences and Climate Change Institute.
Key research areas include coastal acidification monitoring, blue carbon ecosystems, and participatory scenario-based assessments to enhance climate resilience. His work bridges science and policy, addressing challenges in carbon markets, marine governance, and sub-national climate policy design.
Recent publications emphasize the intersection of climate science and policy, including studies on seagrass recovery, ocean acidification dynamics, and carbon offset mechanisms. Professional affiliations include the American Geophysical Union and Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences.
Teaching focuses on climate change, renewable energy systems, and environmental policy, reflecting his commitment to sustainability leadership and interdisciplinary education.
