Aaron R. Haeusler

Aaron R. Haeusler, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience, affiliated with the College of Life Sciences. His laboratory investigates nucleotide repeat expansion (NRE) disorders, with a specialized focus on C9orf72-related amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Research in the Haeusler Lab spans in vitro biochemical characterization to in vivo pathological validation. Primary interests include:

• Mechanistic basis of NRE toxicity in neurodegeneration
• Therapeutic target identification for repeat expansion diseases
• Role of repetitive DNA in unresolved human pathologies
• Metabolic dysregulation in ALS/FTD pathogenesis
