Aaron Perzigian is a Professor and Chair of Education Leadership and Inclusive Teaching at Western Washington University (WWU). He serves as Director of the Multilingual Special Education (MSPED) Office and leads grant-funded initiatives such as the Woodring Multilingual Special Education Scholars pathway, which supports South Seattle school employees in obtaining MLE/SPED teaching endorsements. Additionally, he oversees the dual endorsement special education and elementary education program in Bellingham.
Dr. Perzigian holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on the efficacy of alternative school environments, including behavior reassignment programs, and the role of social-emotional learning in academic performance for students with high-incidence disabilities. His current work explores the impact of service learning in alternative high schools.
Recent publications include his co-edited book Multicultural special education for inclusive classrooms (Routledge, 2023), emphasizing culturally responsive teaching practices. He actively contributes to educational equity through program development and policy advocacy.
