معرفی
Aaron Liston is a Professor and Director of the Herbarium at Oregon State University's Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. He has been affiliated with the university since 1991 and leads the Liston Lab, which focuses on plant genomics, speciation, and evolutionary biology using strawberries (Fragaria) as a primary model system. His work integrates genomic approaches to study polyploidy, sex chromosome evolution, and plant systematics.
Education:
- B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Botany from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel
- Ph.D. in Botanical Sciences from Claremont Graduate School, California
- Postdoctoral research at UC Davis
Research Interests:
Liston's research explores the genomic basis of plant evolution, particularly in strawberries. Key topics include polyploid genome dynamics, sex chromosome differentiation, and the genetic mechanisms underlying plant speciation. His lab employs cutting-edge genomic tools such as targeted sequence capture and transcriptomics to address these questions.
Publications:
Recent work highlights genomic analyses of strawberry sex differentiation, evolutionary histories of polyploid species, and phylogenetic studies in plants like milkweed (Asclepias) and eucalyptus. These studies underscore the interplay between genomic structure, adaptation, and biodiversity.
Affiliations:
Liston is affiliated with the Center for Quantitative Life Sciences and collaborates on projects such as the Pacific Northwest Herbaria Portal. His lab supports graduate training in plant genomics and systematics, offering courses like BOT 321 (Plant Systematics) and BOT 475 (Comparative Genomics).
Grants & Awards:
Recipient of the PEN grant for herbarium collections and collaborations in genomic resource development for understudied plant groups.
Labs/Teams:
The Liston Lab includes researchers like Dr. Caroline Cauret (postdoc) and collaborates with institutions globally. Current projects focus on sex chromosome evolution in strawberries and transposable element diversity in endangered species like Gentner’s fritillary (Fritillaria gentneri).
