Aaron Johnson is a Professor at Augusta University, where he holds academic appointments in the School of Public Health (Department of Community & Behavioral Health Sciences) and the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (Department of Psychological Sciences). He serves as Director of the Institute of Public and Preventive Health and Associate Dean for Research in the School of Public Health.

Johnson’s research focuses on integrating behavioral health into primary care, leveraging technology for behavior change, and understanding provider attitudes toward behavioral health patients. Scientific awards include the Education/Teaching Pedagogy Poster Award (2017), Invited Plenary (2016), and Fellow recognition in NIDA’s Addiction Research Training Institute (2014). His methodological expertise spans research design, quantitative statistics, and clinical evaluation of behavioral interventions.
Johnson leads the Correctional Health Research Program and has served on Augusta University’s Institutional Review Board (Vice Chair, 2017–Present) and multiple university committees, including strategic planning and graduate program development. He contributes to professional organizations like the Georgia Public Health Association and the College on Problems of Drug Dependence.
