Aaron Harries

Aaron Harries, MD is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. He works clinically as an Emergency Physician at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Emergency Department and holds leadership positions as the Director-Physician Advisor for Clinical Documentation Integrity and Co-Director for EM Medical Student Education at UCSF.

Dr. Harries is a product of the University of California education system, having earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA, medical degree from UC Irvine School of Medicine, completed his EM residency at Alameda County Medical Center (Highland Hospital), and his EM Global Health Fellowship at UCSF with a focus on medical education and systems development in Uganda.

His research focuses on medical education, global health/disaster medicine, point-of-care ultrasound in low-resource settings, and documentation improvement. His international work spans Haiti (post-earthquake response), Philippines (post-typhoon Haiyan), Kenya, South Sudan, Thailand/Burma border, and Uganda.

His recent publications demonstrate expertise in medical student education, anxiety disorders in emergency settings, disaster response, and resource-limited emergency care. His research shows a consistent focus on practical applications of medical education principles in diverse clinical environments, particularly in global health contexts.
