Aaron Barchowsky is a Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. His research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of environmental metal toxicity, particularly arsenic exposure, and its role in vascular disease, stem cell dysfunction, and aging-related pathologies.
- University: University of Pittsburgh
- School: School of Public Health
- Department: Environmental and Occupational Health
- Rank: Professor
Research interests include:
- Environmental metal toxicity (arsenic, chromium)
- Cell signaling pathways in disease progression
- Stem cell and tissue regeneration impairment
- Cardiovascular and metabolic disease mechanisms
- Redox status and epigenetic regulation
- Exposure assessment and public health implications
Recent publications explore the exposome paradigm, arsenic-induced adiposity and hypertension, multi-omics approaches to asthma pathobiology, and regenerative rehabilitation strategies. His work bridges environmental toxicology with clinical outcomes, emphasizing longitudinal health impacts of low-level exposures.
