Dr. Aaida Mamuji is an Associate Professor of Disaster and Emergency Management at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. She is also a Faculty Fellow at the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research. Her research focuses on social vulnerability in disasters, hosting/resettlement strategies, and risk assessment methodologies. She holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Ottawa and previously served as a policy advisor in Global Affairs Canada.
Dr. Mamuji has secured significant grants including three major CIHR-funded projects during the pandemic, notably studying stigmatization of Chinese communities during the 2020 crisis. Her work bridges academic research with policy applications in global health and humanitarianism. She leads the Digital Global Health and Humanitarianism Lab and has advised on emergency management strategies to address stigma in public health emergencies.
Awarded excellence in teaching and research, her career demonstrates a commitment to both scholarly contribution and practical policy impact in disaster management and global health systems.
