معرفی
Aadil El-turabi, PhD, is a Senior Research Associate and Co-Investigator at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Medicine. As a founding member of Prof Martin Bachmann's group at the Jenner Institute, he leads research on virus-like particle (VLP) vaccines for non-communicable diseases including neurodegenerative disorders and chronic pain.
Education:
- BSc (Hons), University of Leeds
- PhD, University of Leeds
His research program integrates molecular virology, structural biology, and bioprocessing to develop novel VLP-based therapeutics. Key focus areas include:
- Therapeutic vaccination for Parkinson's disease targeting alpha-synuclein
- VLP platforms for chronic pain management via anti-cytokine approaches
- Expanding VLP applications to dementia and autoimmune conditions like psoriasis
Publication analysis shows consistent innovation in applying structural insights to vaccine design, particularly for neurodegenerative conditions. His recent work combines biophysical methods (e.g., Thioflavin T microviscosity studies) with immunological approaches to tackle protein aggregation disorders.
Scientific recognition includes an entrepreneur training fellowship. Current funding comes from the Michael J Fox Foundation, MRC Confidence-in-Concept, Versus Arthritis, Alzheimer’s Research UK, and the MRC JPND initiative.
Dr. El-turabi maintains active collaborations across Oxford (Jenner Institute, Kennedy Institute, Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences) and with international partners in Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Latvia, and Poland. His laboratory specializes in scalable VLP production and novel vaccine formulation for challenging therapeutic targets.
