ARZU KALIN

Prof. Arzu Kalin is a professor at Karadeniz Technical University's Faculty of Forestry, Department of Landscape Planning and Design. She has held academic positions since 1994, serving as Head of Department from 2015-2019 and 2023-present. Her research focuses on urban landscape planning, visual landscape evaluation, and cultural landscape dynamics. She has advised 2 theses and contributed to 4 funded projects including TUBITAK-supported studies on mountain road corridors and cultural transformation in Trabzon's urban squares.

Education: PhD (2004), MSc (1997), BSc (1994) in Landscape Architecture from KTÜ. Awards include 1st Prize in İstanbul Haliç Kıyıları Design Competition (2020) and project grants from TÜBİTAK and Higher Education Institutions. She has authored over 40 publications including books on urban spaces and tactical placemaking strategies.

Key research areas combine environmental sustainability with urban design innovations like pocket parks, cycle tracks, and interactive urban furniture. Her work bridges historical urban analysis with contemporary tactical urbanism approaches, focusing on children's play spaces and public realm revitalization.
