Annie Cohen-Solal is a Professor at Bocconi University in the Department of Social and Political Sciences. She has taught in Paris, Jerusalem, Berlin, and New York, with a focus on the intersections of art, literature, and society. Her curatorial work includes exhibitions such as Picasso l’étranger and Magiciens de la terre, alongside collaborations with major cultural institutions like the Musée national Picasso-Paris.
Her research explores the crossroads of social history, art history, political science, and immigration studies, particularly in times of crisis and migration. She has also examined themes of exile, rootlessness, and expatriation in projects like Revisiting the Rothko Chapel and Metics and Meteors.
Cohen-Solal’s articles span topics such as Picasso’s identity as a foreigner, Mark Rothko’s relationship to displacement, and the socio-political contexts of art. These works reflect her interdisciplinary approach, blending historical analysis with contemporary cultural discourse.
