ANGEL GARCIA ALONSO

Angel Garcia Alonso is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Department of Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology within the Faculty of Pharmacy. He is part of the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CIMUS) and the BioFarma group, focusing on membrane biology and signal transduction mechanisms in applied pharmacology. Previously, he contributed to the GIBIOMED biomedical research group.

He earned his Doctorate in 2000 from the University of Santiago de Compostela with a thesis titled "Regulation of the pituitary-specific transcription factor Pit-1 by growth hormone secretagogue peptides," advised by Dr. Carlos Diéguez González, Dr. M. Clara Alvarez Villamarin, and Dr. Ricardo Riguera Vega.

His research emphasizes pituitary function, transcription factor regulation, and translational pharmacology applications. While no specific awards or grants are listed, his work aligns with chronic disease and molecular medicine research priorities at CIMUS.
