Professor AMR AHMED is the Head of the School of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM), leading research in AI-driven medical imaging, computer vision, and healthcare technology. He holds a PhD in Computer Graphics & Animation from the University of Surrey (2005) and has extensive industry experience including roles at Sharp Labs Europe. His research focuses on applying AI/ML to medical diagnosis (e.g., liver characterization, breast cancer analysis) and digital pathology, as well as video analysis and semantic scene understanding. He has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students, including Noha Ghatwary and Muhammad Waqas, and collaborates internationally on projects like the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His work bridges academia and industry, contributing to innovations in healthcare AI, autonomous systems, and agri-food applications.
