Prof. dr. A.D.C. (Debbie) Jaarsma is a Full Professor in Research and Innovation in Medical Education at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Groningen. She holds additional roles as Associate Editor for Medical Teacher and Perspectives on Medical Education, and chairs the Scientific Committee of NVMO. Her research focuses on educational strategies in healthcare contexts, including self-regulated learning, work-engagement analysis, and curriculum evaluation.
Her work spans medical education innovations such as workplace-based assessment methods and longitudinal patient contact studies. Notable recent contributions address residency attrition models and supervision style impacts on junior doctors' motivation. She has received the Eredoctoraat (Honorary Doctorate) from the University of Zurich in 2022. Her professional leadership includes prior service as Dean of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University (2021 appointment).
