Dr. Özge Samancı serves as Professor and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Özyeğin University, having joined in September 2017 after holding academic positions at Yeditepe University's Faculty of Fine Arts from 2003 to 2015.
Her academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in History and Civilizations from EHESS (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales), Paris (2009)
- DEA in History of Central Asia and Anatolia from EHESS (1999) and MA in History from Boğaziçi University (1998)
- BA in History from Boğaziçi University (1995)
Her research specializes in Ottoman-Turkish food history, particularly 19th-century Istanbul cuisine and the modernization of late Ottoman culinary culture. She has advanced food historiography through multilingual publications and frequent invitations to speak at international congresses on Turkish culinary heritage. Her scholarly work bridges historical analysis with contemporary gastronomic practices.
Dr. Samancı has advised Turkish Cuisine publications commissioned by the Presidency and Ministry of Culture, served on the Gastronomy Tourism Commission at the 3rd Tourism Council, and contributed to numerous documentaries and international publications on Turkish culinary culture.
