Östen Dahl

Östen Dahl is a Professor in General Linguistics at Stockholm University since 1980, with a focus on linguistic typology and semantics. He holds a Ph.D. in Slavic languages from Göteborg University (1970) and has been a Docent in General Linguistics there from 1970-1980.

Honors include the Ann-Kersti and Carl-Hakon Swenson Prize (2007), and memberships in prestigious institutions such as the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (since 1997) and Academia Europaea (since 2006). He also served as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University (1990-1993) and held leadership roles at the Institute for Interpretation and Translation Studies.

His academic career spans significant editorial contributions, including Section Editor for the Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics and membership on the editorial boards of journals like Journal of Semantics and Linguistics.
