Åsa Danielsson is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Thematic Studies (TEMA) within the Environmental Change (TEMAM) division. Her research focuses on nutrient dynamics, heavy metals in aquatic systems, and the impacts of eutrophication and climate change on the Baltic Sea. She holds a PhD in Water and Environmental Studies (1998) and a BSc in Statistics (1992), both from Linköping University.
Dr. Danielsson has held leadership roles, including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts (2015–2017) and Head of the Environmental Change Theme (2009–2014). She coordinates interdisciplinary projects and teaches courses in environmental sciences, sustainable development, and geography. Her work emphasizes long-term ecological data analysis and the interplay between climate change and nutrient cycles.
Her research investigates oxygen depletion effects on sediment nutrient release, silicon-phosphorus-nitrogen interactions, and drought resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa. She collaborates internationally and serves as an Associate Editor for Applied Geochemistry. Key themes include Baltic Sea recovery challenges, Himalayan river geochemistry, and adaptive water management strategies.
Dr. Danielsson’s supervision includes researchers like Magalí Martí Generó. She contributes to initiatives like the Posthumanities Hub and the Linköping Space Studies in Humanities, addressing societal-environmental interfaces through interdisciplinary frameworks.
