About
Prof. Dr. İzzet Sakalli is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics at the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Arts & Sciences. Since 2005, he has contributed extensively to theoretical physics, focusing on black holes, quantum gravity, and gravitational lensing.
- Education: PhD (2005) and MS (2000) in Physics from EMU; BS (1998) in Physics from Osmangazi University (graduated with highest honors).
- Research Interests: General Relativity, Quantum Gravity, Black Hole Thermodynamics, Hawking Radiation, Quasinormal Modes, Greybody Factors, Gravitational Lensing, Entropic Force, Chaos Theory, and History of Physics.
His publications (2023–2022) explore black holes in extended gravity theories, greybody factors, quasinormal modes, and quantum corrections to thermodynamics using methods like the WKB approximation, Gauss-Bonnet theorem, and holography. Recent works examine Lorentz symmetry violation, bumblebee gravity, and AdS/CFT correspondence.
Scientific Awards include multiple EMU Publication Citation Awards (2021–2017) and the EMU Research Incentive Award (2019).
As a supervisor, he has guided 6 PhD and 10 MS theses, including ongoing projects in quantum gravity, black hole evaporation, and geodesic motion. He has also served on EMU's Faculty Board, Curriculum Committee, and Strategic Plan Committee since 2012.
