Étienne Caron

Étienne Caron is an Associate Professor at the University of Montréal’s Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pathology and Cellular Biology. He leads a research team focused on systems immunopeptidomics, applying advanced mass spectrometry and computational methods to study immune responses in cancer and infectious diseases. His work emphasizes translational applications, including neoantigen discovery for personalized cancer vaccines and biomarker development.

• Education: PhD from Université de Montréal (2006-2009), postdoctoral training at Ludwig Boltzmann Institute (Vienna) and ETH Zurich (Switzerland).

Research interests include:

• Immunopeptidome analysis using SWATH-MS and computational tools.
• Neoantigen discovery for cancer immunotherapy, particularly in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and melanoma.
• Biomarker identification for treatment response and recurrence in immunotherapy.
• Development of open-source software (e.g., MhcVizPipe) for immunopeptidomics data analysis.

Grants and collaborations span multiple institutions, including the FRQS, CRSNG, and IRSC. His lab has moved to Yale University in 2024 to advance global immunopeptidomics research.
