Associate Professor
Andrei Lavrinenko is an Associate Professor at the Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), leading the Metamaterials Group since 2008. He holds a Ph.D. (1989) and Doctor of Science (2004) from Belarusian State University, Minsk, Belarus. His research focuses on metamaterials, plasmonics, photonic crystals, and numerical methods in electromagnetism. Research Highlights: Developed methods for effective parameters restoration in metamaterials and plasmonics. Explored plasmonic nanoantennas for optical fiber-slot waveguide coupling. Investigated solar cell efficiency enhancement via plasmonic nanoparticles. Proposed gain-core effects in metal-semiconductor-metal structures for optical wave control. Designed THz metamaterial devices (polarizers, absorbers) and light modulators. He has delivered over 25 invited talks at international conferences, including lectures at the Institute of Applied Physics in Jena (2012), covering plasmonics, metamaterials, and THz applications.
