Annalotta Dessen Jankell is a part-time lecturer at Stockholm University’s Department of Teaching and Learning , where she focuses on geography education. She recently completed her PhD in November 2023 with the thesis Understand reality as systems , exploring systems thinking in geography education and its role in developing students' understanding of complex sustainability issues such as climate change and global consumption patterns. Currently, she teaches geography, biology, and science at a Stockholm upper secondary school while dedicating half her time to university projects and teacher training. Education: PhD in Geography Education (2023, Stockholm University) Research Interests: Systems thinking, sustainability education, didactic modeling, and integration of Learning Activity frameworks in geography teaching Her work has produced several publications and didactic models, including the connection web methodology for analyzing human-nature systems. She emphasizes the importance of making abstract sustainability concepts tangible through educational design, aligning with UN recommendations for systems thinking as a key competence.
