Dr Matthew Wright is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR), University of Southampton. His research spans musical instrument acoustics, thermoviscous acoustics, and computer-enhanced learning, focusing on interdisciplinary applications of acoustics and education. PhD in acoustics from ISVR under Joe Hammond Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin (1990s) EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow (2002) His work integrates acoustics , machine learning , and engineering education . Key areas include thermoviscous fluid dynamics, auditory neuroscience, and innovative methods for teaching acoustical design. Recent articles highlight collaborations with EPSRC and Google Inc., exploring sound propagation, speech enhancement algorithms, and MEMS microphone design. Themes center on sound and vibration , signal processing , and educational technologies . EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship (2002) Matthew supervises PhD students and has contributed to projects like "SMILE" (European Union), "Bleeck" (EPSRC), and "Speech Enhancement in Neural Space" (Google). He actively participates in editorial boards and professional organizations, including the Institute of Acoustics.
