Assistant Professor
Maude Carmel, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She specializes in female urology, pelvic floor reconstruction, robotic surgery, incontinence treatment, and voiding dysfunction management. Since 2019, she has directed the Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Fellowship program. Dr. Carmel completed her medical degree at Université de Sherbrooke (Canada), followed by urology residencies at Université de Sherbrooke and McGill University. She trained in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery through a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. Her research focuses on robotic pelvic organ prolapse repairs, stress urinary incontinence surgeries, vaginal mesh complication management, vesico-vaginal fistula techniques, and urology education. She maintains active clinical research with publications spanning surgical outcomes, urodynamics, and novel treatment approaches. Awards include consecutive selections to Texas Monthly's Super Doctors (2014-2015) and Texas Rising Stars lists (2015-2017). She holds dual board certification from the American Board of Urology (Urology & Urogynecology) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Professional memberships include the American Urological Association and Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction.
