Associate Professor
Rachael Muszkiewicz serves as an Associate Professor and librarian at Valparaiso University's Christopher Center. Since joining the faculty in 2010, she has coordinated library marketing, outreach, and programming while functioning as library liaison for multiple academic departments including General Studies, History, and World Languages & Cultures. Her teaching responsibilities include library instruction sessions. MLIS with archival administration certificate from Wayne State University MA in archaeology for screen media from University of Bristol BS in anthropology from Michigan State University Research interests focus on innovative library engagement strategies, with particular emphasis on: Humor as an outreach tool Display/exhibit curation Information literacy instruction Student wellness programming Accessibility initiatives Creative service delivery Recent publications demonstrate consistent innovation across multiple library science domains, including marketing strategies for academic libraries, ESL student support systems, and humor-infused instructional methods. Her work examines intersections between traditional library services and novel engagement approaches. Professional member of American Library Association (ALA) Active in ACRL Division Contributing member of Anthropology and Sociology Section Archaeological Institute of America member Muszkiewicz advises the Athena Society student organization and previously served on the Faculty Concerns Committee. She combines scholarly rigor with playful elements, famously wearing an inflatable T-Rex costume for outreach events, blending her archaeological background with creative library practices.
