Sarah J. Scott is a Professor of Art History and Director of the Arts Administration Program at Wagner College. She combines her expertise in Art History and Archaeology to explore the interplay between art, writing, and material culture in pre- and early literate Mesopotamia and the Aegean. Ph.D., History of Art, University of Pennsylvania B.A., Art History and Archaeology, Bowdoin College Her research spans the study of cylinder seals , Assyrian imperial art , and monumental architecture , with a focus on semiotics, Assyriology, and digital reconstruction techniques. She has taught courses such as Egyptian Art and Architecture , The Assyrian Empire , and Islamic Art and Architecture , emphasizing the cultural, religious, and political contexts of ancient art. Her publications, including Seals and Sealing in the Ancient World (2018) and Imagining Architectural Space (2016), highlight cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approaches to glyptic studies and Assyrian palace design. She is currently co-editing The Routledge Companion to Seals and Seal Studies in Antiquity . Scientific Awards : 2015 Civic Engagement Recognition Day Faculty Award Scott actively engages students in fieldwork, museum trips, and community projects, such as the collaborative “Las Mariposas Amarillas” installation with local elementary students. She also serves on the Executive Board of the American School of Overseas Research and chairs Wagner College’s Academic Policy Committee.
