Cecilia Björken-Nyberg is an Associate Professor in English Literature at Halmstad University's School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences . She teaches courses in English literature and didactics and supervises degree projects within the teacher programme. Her research focuses on the intersection of English fiction, sound, and technology. Key works include The Player Piano and the Edwardian Novel (Ashgate, 2015) and studies on audiobook narration of literary classics. Her current projects examine how vocal performance transforms textual material into affective and immersive experiences. Recent publications address speculative storytelling for sustainability, vocal configurations in postcolonial narratives, and dialect use in audiobooks. She also explores affect theory, empathy in auditory engagement, and the historical mechanisation of music.
