Adia Harvey Wingfield is the Mary Tileston Hemenway Professor of Arts & Sciences and Assistant Vice Provost at Washington University in St. Louis. She co-directs the Office of Public Scholarship and holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on racial and gender inequality in professional workplaces, particularly examining how systemic racism persists in occupational structures. She has authored several influential books, including *Gray Areas* (2023) and *Flatlining* (2019), and her work appears in top journals like the *American Sociological Review*. Wingfield has received prestigious awards including the C. Wright Mills Award and the Cox-Johnson-Frazier Award. She is the 116th President of the American Sociological Association and a fellow of the Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Research.
