Professor
Salvatore Florio is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas (IFIKK). His work bridges philosophy of language, logic, and philosophy of mathematics, with recent focus on foundational ontologies and knowledge representation in collaboration with industry. He holds a PhD in Philosophy and MS in Mathematics from The Ohio State University (2010), and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Birmingham (2020). Florio's research investigates the nature of logic, semantics foundations, and interdisciplinary applications in computer science. He has taught courses on algorithmic thinking for humanities students, military ethics, and the history of analytic philosophy. Notable grants include the ERC Advanced Grant-funded Construction in the Formal Sciences (as Co-Investigator) and an AHRC grant on type-free theories of properties. He currently serves as Coordinating Editor of The Review of Symbolic Logic .
