Associate Professor
Joanne Magee is Associate Professor at York University with joint appointments in the School of Administrative Studies and School of Public Policy and Administration. She serves as Undergraduate Program Director for Public Policy and coordinates Income Tax Law courses. Magee holds an LLM from York University, MBA from University of Toronto, and Honours BSc from McMaster University. She is a Fellow of CPA Ontario and the Financial Planning Standards Council. Her co-authored textbook "Principles of Canadian Income Tax Law" is widely used in tax education. Research addresses personal/small business tax policy, compliance challenges, delivery of social benefits through tax systems, and pedagogical innovations in tax education. Her work has been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada in landmark tax cases. Scientific Awards: Fellow of CPA Ontario Fellow of Financial Planning Standards Council Magee serves on York University Senate and has held leadership roles with CPA Canada's Income Tax Education Committee and Canadian Tax Foundation.
