Prof. Ian Eisenman is a Professor at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, part of the University of California San Diego. His research focuses on climate dynamics, sea ice processes, and paleoclimatology. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy & Physics from Williams College, M.A. in Physics from UC Santa Barbara, S.M. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Harvard University. His work explores ocean and atmospheric circulations, climate feedback mechanisms, and the role of icebergs in climate systems. He has received prestigious awards including the Hellman Fellowship (2016-2017) and the AGU Cryosphere Early Career Award (2012). His research group develops advanced climate models and analyzes observational data to address pressing questions in polar climate dynamics. Recent studies include investigating sea level changes due to Antarctic meltwater fluxes and the radiative feedback continuum from Snowball Earth to hothouse climates. His GitHub repository hosts open-source climate models and datasets, emphasizing reproducibility and collaboration.
