Dr. Anyu Liu is a Senior Lecturer in Hospitality at the University of Surrey's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. He serves as Deputy Director of International Relations and Supervisor of the Food & Wine Society. With expertise in applied economics within tourism and hospitality, Dr. Liu has established himself as a leading researcher in tourism demand modeling and forecasting. BA in Economics, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (2008) MSc in Economics and Statistics, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (2011) PhD in Tourism Economics, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2016) Dr. Liu's research focuses on applied economics in tourism and hospitality, with particular emphasis on tourism and hotel demand modeling and forecasting, and quantitative research methods. His work bridges theoretical economic frameworks with practical tourism applications, addressing critical issues such as tourism's economic impact, crisis management in tourism, and the development of tourism satellite accounts. He has developed innovative forecasting methodologies that have proven particularly valuable during the pandemic period. His publication record reveals a strong focus on tourism demand forecasting, economic impact assessment, and the application of advanced statistical methods to tourism research. Dr. Liu has pioneered approaches combining Bayesian methods with bootstrap aggregation for more accurate tourism forecasting, especially during crisis periods. His work spans multiple continents and addresses both theoretical advancements and practical applications for tourism destinations and businesses. He has also consulted for major organizations including UNWTO, Visit Scotland, and St Giles Hotels.
