Associate Professor
Lauren Hodges is an Associate Professor of Viola at the University of Florida's School of Music, where she also coordinates Music Appreciation classes. Previously, she served as Lecturer in Viola at Valdosta State University and held multiple roles including Principal Viola of the Valdosta Symphony and violist of the Azalea String Quartet. She has performed and taught internationally in Italy, Austria, France, and China, and has conducted masterclasses at institutions such as Illinois State University, University of Southern Mississippi, and the University of Georgia. Educated at the University of South Carolina, Peabody Conservatory, and the University of Alabama Active participant in national viola competitions and festivals, including the Primrose International Viola Competition and American Viola Society (AVS) events Hosts annual Viola Day at UF and serves as a board member-at-large for the AVS Her work emphasizes viola pedagogy, community engagement through music, and promoting viola performance via workshops and recitals. Professional activities include international teaching engagements and leadership in the South Georgia String Project and Azalea String Quartet.
