Assistant Professor
Bruna Tariba serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Science within the Division for Animal Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb. Her academic career includes roles as Assistant (2006-2015) and Postdoctoral Researcher (2015-2017) at the same institution. She teaches specialized courses including Management of Reproduction in Domestic Animals, Endocrinology and Biology of Sexual Organs, and Protection of Health of Domestic Animals. Education PhD in Theriogenology of Domestic Animals, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb Graduate Thesis: 'Agricultural pasture land in sheep production', Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb Research Interests Dr. Tariba's work centers on Animal Reproduction , Goat Health , and Animal Genetics , with specialized focus on Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis Virus (CAEV) impacts on udder health and milk production. Her research extends to mastitis etiology, next-generation sequencing applications in livestock genomics, archaeogenetics of cattle, and conservation biology for species like the river turtle in Mediterranean wetlands. Publication Trends Analysis of her publications reveals sustained focus on goat health pathologies, particularly CAEV-related milk production impacts and subclinical mastitis. The 2017 publications demonstrate epidemiological field studies in Croatian goat herds, while earlier 2009 work established foundational research in mastitis etiology and reproductive ultrasound techniques. This trajectory shows progression from basic reproductive physiology to complex disease management in livestock systems. Research Projects LIFE for Mauremys (2022-2026): CINEA-funded conservation project as Coordinator, focusing on river turtle preservation in Dubrovnik-Neretva County wetlands NGS Methods in Genomic Variability Assessment (2018-2022): Croatian Science Foundation project as Coordinator studying genomic diversity in livestock Spatial Information in Animal Research (2017): University of Zagreb project as Coordinator Archaeogenetics of Cattle in Croatia (2016): University of Zagreb project as Coordinator for ancient DNA extraction and sequencing
