Prof. Dr. Andrea Lassmann is a Professor of International Economic Policy at the University of Mainz. She holds a PhD from ETH Zurich (2012) and has prior experience as a Trade Policy Analyst at the OECD and ETH Zurich. Her research focuses on international trade, public economics, and urban/regional economics, with a particular emphasis on the role of language in trade, taxation-policy linkages, and digital platform taxation. She actively contributes to policy consulting for international organizations and supervises students in empirical research aligned with her research themes. Teaching responsibilities include courses like Economic Geography, Regional and Urban Economics and Master seminar in International Economics and Public Policy . She collaborates with institutions like SECO (Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs) on projects analyzing global value chains and trade dynamics. Her work has been featured in journals such as European Economic Review , Economic Journal , and World Economy , with recent contributions addressing taxation spillovers in digital markets and immigration’s impact on international production networks. Her research team includes Mina Taniguchi, PhD, and Siddhi Girish Dixit. She coordinates the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Master in International Economics and Public Policy (MIEPP) programs. Key research outputs include policy papers on gender gaps in trade, services trade impacts, and multinational production dynamics.
