Research Fellow
Yongjun Lu is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Oceans, The University of Western Australia (UWA), and Principal Geoscientist at RSC Global Pty Ltd. He holds expertise in economic geology, geochemistry, and mineral systems, with a focus on continental crust architecture and critical metal exploration. His work integrates isotope geochemistry and multi-disciplinary data to enhance mineral prospectivity mapping in covered terranes. Previously, he served as Manager of Geochronology and Isotope Geology (2022–2024) and Senior Geochronologist Isotope Specialist (2015–2022) at the Geological Survey of Western Australia. His research contributions include pioneering zircon-based exploration techniques for porphyry copper deposits and discovering Proterozoic lithosphere boundaries in Australia. Key achievements include the Waldemar Lindgren Award (2018) for economic geology contributions. His studies on the Yilgarn and Superior cratons, Tibetan orogens, and crustal evolution have advanced understanding of continental growth and ore systems. Collaborations span academia, industry, and government, emphasizing applied geoscience for mining value chains.
