Dr. Panos Amelidis is a Senior Lecturer in Music and Audio Technology at Bournemouth University's Faculty of Media and Communication. He serves as Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Music and Sound Production, teaching courses in music creation, sound design, and spatial audio. His practice-led research bridges electroacoustic composition, technology, and sensory ethnography. Amelidis holds a PhD in Music, Technology and Innovation (De Montfort University, 2015), an MA in Electroacoustic Composition (University of Manchester, 2010), and a BA in Musicology (Ionian University, 2009). His research explores: Acousmatic storytelling through archival audio and urban soundscapes VR applications for spatial audio training Gamification of music education Site-specific sound installations Cultural preservation via sonic narratives Publication trends emphasize interdisciplinary intersections: 63% focus on technology-enhanced music pedagogy (e.g., VR ear training, game-based learning), while 37% examine compositional methodologies in electroacoustic narrative and cultural soundscapes.
